The Clackmannanshire Bridge
The Clackmannanshire Bridge sits in a strategic position connecting the Scottish highlands to the lowlands via its links to the country’s trunk road and motorway network. The engineering design of this 1.2 kilometre bridge was led by Jacobs with Nicoll Russell Studios providing aesthetic design and detail input. The elegant ‘gull wing’ deck and sculptural supports were developed to create a slender, rolling edge profile, and at the time of construction was one of the world’s longest incrementally launched concrete decks.
