In collaboration with Jacobs, Nicoll Russell Studios were responsible for the site selection, route planning and unique concept design of the Millennium Wheel rotating boat lift (now better known as the Falkirk Wheel), and successfully contributed to the client’s Millennium Commission funding bid to reconnect the Forth/Clyde and Union canals. Our vision went on to be developed by the client to create an international landmark which makes dramatic use of landscape, contours, water, the Antonine Wall, and spectacular high level views of the distant hills from the aqueduct structure.
