A competition winning design by Nicoll Russell Studios for a new public glasshouse forming the entrance point to the ‘Glasshouse Experience’ at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. The structural form is inspired by nature, taking the appearance of a stylised frond while also being shaped by seasonal sun paths to ensure light penetration into adjacent Listed glasshouses is maintained. The new building will provide an exciting start and finish point to a journey through the ‘Glasshouse Experience’, offering views back to the skyline of Edinburgh across the Gardens themselves.
