The client wished to “radically change” an existing and dated venue into a contemporary yet comfortable bar that had its own unique identity in an up and coming area in the centre of Dundee. Although there was a limited budget and a fit out window of 5 weeks from initial concept design to trading to the public, Nicoll Russell Studios were conscious that a simple redecoration and space planning scheme would not be enough to successfully change the interior. We were therefore creative with the reconditioning of existing furniture and sourcing of reclaimed decorative elements to both reduce costs and explore a design style that celebrated a “re-use and re-invent” approach to commercial interiors.
