The form and planning of the Music Centre proposals build on the successful feasibility work carried out for the University of St Andrews in establishing site, brief, and development criteria for the new building. The design carefully considers and negotiates its setting within a conservation area and its adjacency to multiple listed buildings of varying character and style. Our analysis created a development footprint in which the main studio and performance space is revealed from behind a contextual masonry wall of accommodation within a new public Quadrangle setting.
