Old Medical School & Carnelley Building

University of Dundee

The project consists of a new link building which forms a communal entrance to the two existing buildings (which have become a single faculty containing research and teaching laboratories), improved fire safety measures and the creation of facilities to allow disabled access.

As both buildings are of a considerable age and are both Grade ‘B’ listed, some of the works required to bring the buildings up to current standards were substantial. The existing buildings remained open throughout the construction period due to continued liaison with the University’s Health and Safety Officer, Building Control and the Fire Brigade.
