The Angus is a typical major hotel found in many of Scotlandís highland towns. It boasts a lengthy history, but with that a complex series of extensions and insertions have been added to the original building over many years.
Nicoll Russell Studios were originally commissioned to review the existing building, analyse how it could evolve with greater clarity and how it should be refurbished and extended as part of a multi-phased masterplan. The existing building incorporates several bars, public areas, a function suite, leisure suite, foyers, kitchens, toilets and in excess of eighty bedrooms. Our commission included the obvious need to consider fire safety, acoustics, etc. when the masterplan was being developed. Having concluded the initial study the practice have now completed the first phase of the masterplan which incorporated the creation of twelve new double ensuite bedrooms.
